5 Easy Ways to Prepare Your Home for Sale
By john | March 4, 2008
With the tough competition being experienced by sellers of homes facing foreclosure, it is only right that the property is well-prepared to receive potential buyers. If you are thinking that such preparation will involve spending some amount of money, then you are mistaken. You can actually prepare your foreclosure home for sale without costing you anything.

Here are some tips:
- Remove all clutter - if you want buyers to think that your home is spacious, you should remove junk from your home. You do not even need to throw them away if you do not want to. You can always rent a storage room where you can put your stuff.
- Organize Closets and Cabinets - most buyers would want to look at the size of your closets and cabinets. If you want to make a good impression, you should make sure that they are organized. Try putting labels on your things. Buyers will even think that you really know how to take care of the rest of the property.
- Do Minor Repairs - you can justify your asking price if you make minor repairs throughout the house. You can always check for leaky faucets, holes in the walls, broken locks and jammed drawers. You can hire a carpenter for a couple of hours to do these minor repairs or even do them yourself.
- Clean Your Home - even if you are not expecting any buyer to see you, you should make an effort to make your home always presentable. You should make sure that your windows are clean and your floors are polished.
- Check Out Your Home - try to see your home as a buyer and look for things that you might have missed. Also try to look at your home from different angles and scrutinize whether your home looks good for buyers.
Even if you are facing foreclosure, this should not be a reason to let go of the physical condition of your property. With a little extra effort, you will be able to sell your home and pay off your debt before the reinstatement period is up.
